I have been a quilter for over 30 years. My passion is teaching and designing.
My husband and I have lived in the Midwest all of our lives. We have two daughters, both married to wonderful men. They are both very creative with one of them involved in the quilting industry and the other preferring photography.
As a child I spent many summers visiting the family farm in Iowa. Some of my favorite memories are of staying at my grandmother's little cottage bungalow. She had a large garden and loved flowers. She made simple tied quilts for each of us and was very influential in my desire to learn to quilt.
A lot of my design inspiration comes from old traditional quilt blocks. I love combing through quilt history books looking for fun blocks to piece using today's quilting techniques. While looking for a way to strip-piece an old block called Left and Right, I ended up invented the ZIG-ZAG Ruler. It allows you to create a diagonally pieced square without cutting templates using simple strip-sets! I then designed a series of patterns and projects to make using the ruler. Each of the patterns offers at least three quilt sizes and most are suited for the average quilter.
